Marie Simonne (Robert) Lafferty, 90, of New Bedford, passed away peacefully August 12, 2009 at Sacred Heart Home, surrounded by her loved ones after a long illness. She was the wife of the late Joseph B.C. Lafferty.
Born in St. Cesaire, Quebec, Canada, the daughter of the late Samuel and Rose (Lavallee) Robert, she lived in New Bedford most of her life.
She was a communicant of St. Julie Billiart Church.
She dedicated her life to her family and was happiest when she was surrounded by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include two sons, Michael Lafferty and his wife Margaret of Dartmouth, and Stephen Lafferty and his wife Debra of New Bedford; three daughters, Barbara Parnell and her husband Jasper of Dartmouth, and Maureen Lafferty and Patricia Dreher, both of New Bedford; two brothers, Philip Robert of Sun City, AZ, and Laurent Robert of New Bedford; three sisters, Doris Girouard and Rita Grimley, both of New Bedford and Laura Bonneau of Biddeford, ME; a daughter-in-law, Mitzi Lafferty of Trussville, AL; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was the mother of the late Joseph Owen Lafferty and Robert Bruce Lafferty, sister of the late Leo Robert and Edward Robert, and mother-in-law of the late Bruce Dreher.
