Peabody: Jeanne C. Gillespie age 87 a former resident of Salem, died at the Peabody Glen Healthcare Center in Peabody following a long illness. She was the wife of the late Gilbert F. Gillespie.
Born in New Brunswick, Canada, she was the daughter of the late Francois and Marie Anne (Bastarache) Richard. She was a resident of Salem, prior to becoming a citizen, and returned to Canada where she married Gil in 1945. She and her husband returned to Salem in 1948 and she worked for Sylvania through to 1950’s.
Jeanne was very devoted to her family and friends and always maintained close contact with her New Brunswick family and friends. All who had to good fortune to know her always enjoyed her wonderful cooking and various crafts. She was also very involved in her much loved parish, the former St. Joseph Parish of Salem, where she was a member of Les Dames de la Ste. Famille.
Jeanne is survived by a son Richard F. Gillespie and his wife Susan of Freedom, NH, 2 grandchildren, Ryan Gillespie of Beverly and Erin Ricci and her husband Brian of Lawrence, 2 great-granddaughters, Ella & Ava and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St. [Rt. 114 / 1-A] Salem on Saturday, August 15, 2009 from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. for an hour of visitation, to be followed by her funeral mass in Ste. Anne Church, Jefferson Ave., Salem at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem.
