Obituary

On August 10, 2009, at Longmeadow Nursing Home in Taunton, MA., Lorraine M.(Begnoche) Cahoon, age 91, wife of the late Walter O. Cahoon, of Raynham, MA., finally found peace after a long and courageous battle. She was born on April 22, 1918 in Taunton to J. Napoleon and Delcia (Marcotte) Begnoche. Lorraine attended St. Jacques Grammar School and Taunton High School for 2 years and never graduated because she went to work to help out her family instead, but thrived very well without it.
She entered the U.S. Coast Guard in February, 1944 and worked in communications until discharged in February, 1946. After the service, she worked for Gorham Manufacturing in Providence, R.I., and then for the former Fernandes Supermarket in Rayn-
ham for 17 years until her retirement. She was also a waitress for 20 years at the Ward 8 Social Club, which is now Benjamin’s Restaurant. Lorraine loved entertaining family and friends and being the perfect hostess. In her spare time, Lorraine took pleasure in
playing cards, scrabble, doing crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles and bowling. She was an avid Red Sox fan and was thrilled when she was able to see them win the World Series, not once but twice since they last won the year that she was born. She loved watching all of the different birds in her yard, her beautiful flowers and especially loved her cats. She enjoyed travelling with her husband with several groups of friends and attend-
ing Raynham Sociable Senior events. She was a communicant of St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Raynham.
