Anna May McCarthy, 78, of Summerville, widow of Walter Joseph McCarthy died Tuesday, August 11, 2009 at Trident Medical Center.
Funeral service will be held Friday, August 14, 2009 at 11:00 at James A. Dyal Funeral Home Chapel, Summerville. Burial will follow at Plantation Memorial Gardens, Moncks Corner. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Wednesday and Thursday evening from 6 until 8:00 with a prayer service at 7:00 on Thursday evening.
Anna was born July 29, 1931 in Brooklyn, New York, daughter of the late Harry Strobel and Lillian Mae Wilcox Strobel. She was a graduate of schools in Brooklyn, New York. She was a member of St. John the Beloved Catholic Church.
She is survived by 5 sons and 2 daughters:
Ronald McCarthy of Brooklyn, NY, Walter McCarthy, Jr. of Manhattan, NY, James McCarthy of Summerville, Patrick McCarthy of Summerville and Kevin McCarthy of Manhattan, NY, Ann Marie Hunt of Ridgeville and Kimberly McCarthy of Summerville. 1 brother: Harry Strobel, Jr. of Summerville, 2 sisters: Ruth Ann Morris of New Jersey and Edna Gallachio of Florida, 14 grandchildren: Tara McCarthy, Ronnie McCarthy, Jr., Robert Hunt, Andrea Hunt, William Hunt, Katlyn McCarthy, Jennifer McCarthy Kersty DeLoach, Corey DeLoach, James Michael Hersman, Lillian Mccarthy, Walter McCarthy, III, Jack McCarthy and Thomas McCarthy and 8 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her 2 sisters: Carolyn Puhi and Dorothy Strobel.
