John D. Cicchetti, Sr., 42, of Tilton formerly of North Attleboro and Mansfield passed away unexpectedly on Monday August 10, 2009 at the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH after suffering a cranial aneurism at home. He was the longtime soul mate of Donna MacWhinney with whom he made his home in Tilton.
Born in Milton, MA on January 22, 1967 he was a loving son of Anthony F., Sr. and Nancy A. (Nicholson) Cicchetti of Mansfield.
John spent his early childhood living in Hyde Park. At age seven his family moved to Mansfield where he grew up and was educated in Mansfield public schools. He was a 1985 graduate of Southeastern Regional Vocational Technical High School in South Easton.
For the past several years while living in New Hampshire John was employed as a Refrigerator and Appliance Technician for Eco-Labs and had formerly worked in the same capacities at Hallsmith-Sysco in Norton.
John loved his children, his job, boating, listening to country western music and was an avid NASCAR fan. He will be fondly remembered for his fun loving ways, the big smile on his face and the pleasure he received from marveling others with his wonderful fireworks displays.
He had made his home in Tilton for the past 8 years and was a former resident of North Attleboro and Mansfield where he was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church.
In addition to Donna and his parents he is survived by his cherished sons John Cicchetti, Jr. of Alexandria, New Hampshire, Justin Cicchetti, stationed at the Travis Air Force Base in California, Joseph Cicchetti of North Attleboro and Colin Cicchetti of Tilton. He was the dear brother of Tony Cicchetti and his wife Lynn of North Providence, RI, his twin Jimmy Cicchetti of Mansfield and Marianne Cicchetti of North Attleboro. He was the loving grandson of Grace (DeFlurin) Nicholson of Wakefield and the late George Nicholson and Louie and Angela (Giardino) Cicchetti. John is also survived by his former wife Bonnie and many loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, co-workers and friends.
His funeral, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Saturday August 15th at 8:00 A.M. from the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home 55 North Main St. Mansfield followed by a mass of Christian burial celebrated at 9:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church 330 Pratt St. Mansfield. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Mansfield.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday August 14th from 5-8 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home.
