Obituary

Alfred Francis Delorey, 78, of Chester, NH, died Sunday, August 9, 2009 in the Community Hospice House in Merrimack, NH. Born in Winchester, MA on March 4, 1931, a son of the late Everett S. and Helen (Finch) Delorey, he joined the Army at age 17 and served with the Occupational Forces of Japan. He married Arlene Roberts Delorey in 1953. Mr. Delorey was a Boy Scout leader for many years and also served on the Board of Wardens at the Chester Congregational Church. He also served as Deputy Chief of the Chester Volunteer Fire Dept. for 15 years. Mr. Delorey held memberships in the American Legion Post #108 in Chester and the VFW Post #1617 in Derry. He was the owner and operator of Delorey Plumbing and Heating in Chester for 42 years.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Arlene (Roberts) Delorey of Chester; one daughter, Carolyn Lighthall and her husband John of Chester; one son, Alan Delorey and his wife Barbara of Florida; two grandchildren; two great grandchildren; three brothers; one sister; as well as several nieces and nephews.
There are no calling hours. Following cremation, a graveside service was held on Sunday, August 30th at 2:00pm in the Great Hill Cemetery, Rt. 121A, in Chester. Please bring your Bibles and follow along with a few of Alfred’s favorite verses. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Chester Volunteer Fire Dept., 27 Murphy Dr., Chester, NH 03036.
