Stephanie M. Paradis, 93, beloved wife of the late Leo P. Paradis, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Aug. 6, 2009 at Life Care Center Merrimack Valley in Billerica.
She was born in Lowell on June 26, 1916, the daughter of the late Jacob and Mary Nowak. She attended Lowell schools prior to leaving school to attend to her ill mother. She was married to Leo Paradis on June 18, 1936. After marriage she and her family lived in various sections of Lowell prior to moving to Dracut in 1956, where she resided until she entered The Life Care Center.
Mrs. Paradis was a longtime employee at the Raytheon South Lowell Facility, where she was a Group Leader in the Cable Fabrication Section. She retired from Raytheon in 1982. During her retirement, Mrs. Paradis was a fierce defender of animal rights and was active in several organizations devoted to animal welfare.
She is survived by a daughter, Mariann Morton of Amherst, NH; a son, Leo Paradis of Canterbury, NH; two sisters, Agnes Martinez of Wilmington MA and Helen Tufenkjian of Belmont, MA, several nieces and nephews, five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Edward and Stanley Nowak, both formerly of Lowell
