LOWELL—Muriel F. (Luppold) Dumas, 71 years old, died Sunday August 3rd, at Saints Memorial Medical Center, after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Morace R. “Red” Dumas, who died in 1980.
She was born in Lowell, on July 16, 1932, a daughter of the late Bernard and Lola (Gardner) Luppold and was a graduate of the Immaculate Conception Grammar School and Lowell High School.
Mrs. Dumas was employed as a Bookbinder by ZBR Publications, in Wilmington. She was an active volunteer at the Lowell Senior Center, and for the Kiwanis Club of Greater Lowell. She was trustee of the East End Club Ladies Auxiliary, and held membership in the Lowell Council on Aging, the Centralville Senior Center. Mrs. Dumas was a proud supporter of Mayor Rita Mercier, and a tireless campaign worker for her.
Surviving her are a son and daughter-in-law: Kenneth and Janet Dumas, of Lowell; two daughters and one son-in-law: Lynda and Matthew Viertel, of Flower Mound, TX; and Sandra Dumas, of Lowell; five grandchildren: Allison Dumas, Lindsay, Ethan, Kelsey and Leah Viertel; one great-grandson: Jacob Christopher; four brothers and sisters-in-law: Bernard and Evie Luppold, of Dracut; George and Rita Luppold, of Union, NJ; John “Pat” Luppold and his wife Joan, of Hemet, CA; and William and Gail Luppold, of Westford; also several nieces and nephews.
She was the grandmother of the late Christopher W. Dumas.
. Her Funeral Mass to be offered Friday morning, August 8th, at 9 AM at the IMMACULATE CONCEPTION CHURCH, Lowell, to which relatives and friends are invited. At her request, there will be no calling hours. Burial in St. Mary Cemetery, Tewksbury.
