
Norman H. "Bomber" Murray, a 4 year resident of Claremont, New Hampshire, and former resident of Melrose, Saugus and Lynn, died on Friday, August 7, 2009, at his home in Claremont, New Hampshire, after a courageous battle with skin cancer. He was 67 years old.
Bomber grew up in Malden and Melrose. He gaduated from Melrose High School and lived in Melrose until 1983 when he moved to Lynn. In 1994 with his family, they moved back to Melrose for several years before moving to Claremont, New Hampshire. Norman worked numerous jobs over the course of his life, including truck driver, mason, landscaper and heavy equipment operator. He loved golf, fishing and gardening, everything flourished under his care. He also loved telling stories, singing Irish songs, listening to Bob Dylan, voraciously reading, and laughing with friends. He particularly loved all of his grandchildren.
In 1977, Norman was baptized as a Jehovah's Witness. He attended congregations in Saugus, West Lynn, Malden, Boyton Beach, Florida, and Claremont, New Hampshire. He took guidence and strength from his belief in Jehovah God and the teachings of the Bible. He enjoyed ministering and helping others and found many wonderful friends at the Kingdom Hall.
Norman is the beloved husband of 39 years to Anida Nancy (Castle) Murray. He is the devoted father of Paul Murray of Revere, Jane Cole and her husband Paul of Sanford, Maine, John Murray of North Andover, Jessica Grover and her husband Charles of Haverhill, Norman Murray and his wife Sian of Mansfield, Katherine Murray and her fiance Christopher Tuttle of Portland, Maine and his daughter-in-law Calandra Murray of Wakefield. He is the loving grandfather of 17 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. He is the beloved son of the late Humphrey and Helena Murray. He is the beloved brother of Anne Burns of Tewksbury, Holden Murray and his wife Maryellen of Melrose, Eugene Murray, the late Helena Pike and Ralph Murray. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours for Norman on Wednesday, August 12, 2009, from 4 to 8 p.m. in The Carr Funeral Home, 1159 Main Street, Melrose. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, August 13, 2009, at 10 a.m. at The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 291 Salem Street, Malden.
