Lena Santucci, 90

Lena (Vardaro) Santucci, 90, of Mansfield passed away on Wednesday August 5, 2009 at the Epoch Senior Healthcare in Norton with her loving grandson Dale Tessier by her side. She was the beloved wife of the late Stanley T. Santucci to whom she was married to for 29 years at the time of his death on January 26, 1969.
Born in Mansfield, MA on April 26, 1919 she was a daughter of the late Pasquale and Carmela (Petrillo) Vardaro.
Lena grew up in the Hyde Park section of Boston and was educated in Hyde Park schools. She later moved back to Mansfield where she has made her home for the past 60 years.
In addition to being a dedicated homemaker to her adoring family, Mrs. Santucci had also worked for 15 years at the former Cleveland Twist Drill Co in Mansfield in the packaging department, before retiring.
A communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Mansfield, Lena loved being in the presence of her loving family and was an avid and faithful Red Sox fan, and also enjoyed playing bingo and making new friends at the Epoch Assisted Living Center in Norton.
She is survived by her devoted daughters Judith A. Sarro and her husband Ralph of North Falmouth and Diane MacQueen and her husband Stephen of Mansfield. She was the sister of Americo Vardaro, Patrick Vardaro, Antonio Vardaro, Jean Conti and the late Louis Vardaro, Henry Vardaro, Mary Shea, Angie Vardaro and Susan Signoriello. She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren Christine Tighe, Caren Campbell, Daniel Sarro, Jennifer MacDonald, Dale Tessier, Dawn Littig and Susan Helman, and also her 15 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Her funeral, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Monday August 10th at 8:00 A.M. from the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home 55 North Main St. Mansfield followed by a mass of Christian burial celebrated at 9:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church 330 Pratt St. (Route 106) Mansfield. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Mansfield.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday August 9th from 4-7 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home.
