Obituary

William F. “Bill” Carnevale, age 93, beloved husband of the late Hilda M. (Donovan) and a longtime Andover resident, passed away peacefully at his home on August 5, 2009, surrounded by his family.
He was born in Lowell the son of the late Vito and Carmela (Traverso) Carnevale and attended Lawrence schools. He graduated from Essex Aggie where he studied agriculture. Bill also worked in construction and many years at the IRS. He was a longtime parishioner of St. Augustine Parish in Andover. Mr. Carnevale served with the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was an Aviation-Radioman and received three decorations; the World War II Victory Medal, the American Area Medal and the Asiatic-Pacific Area Medal. Bill received his honorable discharge at Boston on January 11, 1946.
In his spare time, Bill enjoyed gardening, traveling, sports and spending time at the beach. He was a kind, loving, caring and compassionate man and had a zest for life. He had a contagious smile and loved the color RED.
Bill was the loved brother of Frederick and his wife Jane Carnevale of Connecticut, Mary Persichette of Andover who resided with him, Louise Carnevale of Methuen, Thelma Wilder of Salem, New Hampshire and Rita and her husband Joseph Rayball of Seekonk. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and his precious and beloved cat Bo-Bo, who was his constant companion and was loved immensely by Billy. He was also the brother of the late Eleanor Carnevale, Esther Alcamisi, Lena Doucete, Rose Scuito and Joseph and Michael Carnevale.
His funeral mass was celebrated in St. Augustine Church, 43 Essex Street, Andover, Monday, August 10, at 10 AM. Many relatives and friends were in attendance. Calling hours were held in the Burke-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 390 North Main Street, Sunday, August 9, from 3 to 7 PM. Burial was in West Parish Garden Cemetery, Andover.
