OBITUARY
Leominster
Daniel Cheries, 90, of Leominster, died Wednesday August 5, at Life Care
Center of Leominster.
Daniel leaves his wife of 35 years, Geraldine M. (Haase) Cheries. They were
married August 10, 1974. His son Gary Cheries of Fitchburg, his step-sons
Wayne Tisdale of Meadowlakes, Tx. and Brian Tisdale of Essex, Ct. His
step-daughters,Linda Williams of Watertown and Brenda Kennard of
Lafayette, La. His sisters, Esther Caron of Fitchburg, Lydia LaLiberty of
Leominster and Fay Dauphinais of Joshua Tree, Ca. He also leaves many
grandchildren, Great grandchildren Nieces and Nephews.
Daniel was predeceased by his son Daniel Cheries Jr., his brothers,
Michael J. and Frank Cheries. His sisters, Anne Belfiore, Rose Koslowski
and Mary Belliveau.
Daniel was born in Monson, Ma. the son of Paul and Irene (Simone)
Cheries. He attended local schools. He had lived in Leominster for 40
years. Daniel was employed as a #5 Silicone Coater Operator at James
River Paper Co. over 30 years He retired in 1981.
Daniel was a six year veteran of World War ll participating in the first
landing after the bombing of Hiroshima. He received an Honorable
Discharge in 1946 and was awarded the World War ll Victory medal,
American Area medal, Asiatic Pacific area medal, Philippine Liberation
medal, European African Middle Eastern medal. He served on the USNTS
Newport, R.I. USS New York and the USS Vulcan. He was a Coxswains
Mate at the time of his discharge.
Mr. Cheries loved his family and his beloved cat "Princess". He enjoyed
traveling with his wife and family and took many ocean cruises. He loved to
assemble and repair old clocks and listen to music. He was known as a
tinkerer.
A funeral service with military honors will be held on Saturday August 8 at
11 A.M. in the Bosk Funeral Home 85 Blossom St. Fitchburg Rev. Russell
Grant will officiate. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery Contributions
in his name may be made to the Veterans Homestead 69 High St. Fitchburg,
