Obituary

Robert G. Gallant, age 83, died Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2009 at his residence in Lowell, after an extended illness. He was the beloved husband of Dorothy A. (Joslin) Gallant to whom he was married for over 44 years.

He was born in Boston May 28, 1926 son of the late Albert and Edith (Goodrich) Gallant.

He was a Navy Veteran of WWII.

A lifelong resident of Lowell, Mr Gallant had managed the Highlands Little League for 2 years and was an avid bowler and hunter.

Prior to his retirement he worked as a machine operator for G.E. for 23 years.

Besides his wife he is survived by his 6 daughters, Paula Labonte and her husband David of Dracut, Priscilla Champoux and her husband Roland of Lowell, Charleen Romano and her husband John of Lowell, Kim Gallant and her companion Jerry Silva of Derry, NH, Doreen Beaupre and her husband Eddie of Lowell, Pam Giusti and her wife Katie of Hudson, NH; 2 sons, Robert Gallant Jr. and his wife Marlene of Nashua, and Joseph Gregory and his wife Julie of Arizona; a daughter-in-law, Kelly (Skidmore) Gallant of Lowell; his twin brother, Ralph Gallant of Lowell; 27 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; also several nieces and nephews. He was also the father of the late Marc A. Gallant Sr. who died on July 5, 2009 and brother of the late Albert Gallant.

Relatives and friends may call at the M.R. LAURIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 295 Pawtucket St., Lowell on Thursday, Aug. 6, from 3 to 6 pm, followed by a prayer service at the funeral home at 6:00pm. Interment will be private. In LIEU OF FLOWERS, memorial contributions may be made to the Saints Memorial Cancer Center, The Spindle Fund, 2 Hospital Drive, Lowell, MA 01852.
