Angelo A. DeFlumeri, age 83 of Medford, died Wednesday in the Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Medford. He was the husband of the late Anna E. (DiTroia) DeFlumeri. Mr. DeFlumeri was born and educated in Boston, son of the late Frank and Amelia (Albanese) DeFlumeri. He was the retired Superintendent of the Water and Sewer Division for the City of Medford where he retired in 1994, having served with that department for over 40 years.
Mr. DeFlumeri was a U.S. Navy Veteran and served during WWII. In 1999 He was presented the “Key to the City” by Mayor Michael J. McGlynn. He was a typical backyard mechanic and loved to work on automobiles, particularly Cadillacs. He enjoyed swimming and most water activities. Well known to be an avid sports fan, he loved the Red Sox and the Boston Bruins. Considered to be a pretty good “jack of all trades” he was the person to go to on home repairs. He loved to vacation in NH, at Alton Bay and the Lake Winnepesaukee areas.
He is survived by a daughter: Donna Basile and her husband James of Medford, three sons: Peter DeFlumeri and his wife Mary of Raymond, NH., Robert DeFlumeri and his companion Abbey Sochat of Stoneham, Edward DeFlumeri and his wife Beverly of Billerica, two sisters: Anne Grenier and Rose DeSjeunes, both of Arlington and is the grandfather of Jason and James Basile, Melanie, Daniel, Robert, Michael, Nicholas & Brianna DeFlumeri. Brother of the late John DeFlumeri.
Friends may call Thursday from 4 thru 8 at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Clement Church, 71 Warner Street, Medford, Friday at 10:00 am. Followed by burial Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. Those who prefer may make contributions in Angelo’s name to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701
