Obituary

Hanson – Priscilla A. (Landers) Colby 88 died Tuesday August 4 after a period of failing health. She was the beloved wife of the late Edward W. Colby, Jr.

Born and raised in Hanover she was the daughter of the late Preston K. and Gladys M. (Jones) Landers and a graduate of Hanover High School Class of 1939.

Priscilla had previously resided in both Scituate and Norwell before moving to Hanson in 1953, where she remained for forty years, and moving to Halifax in 1993.

She was a long time waitress at many local restaurants among them are the once famous A.R. Parkers, the Steer Club, Brines of Hanson, Elena’s of Halifax, South Shore Seafood and the Standish Grill.

Priscilla most enjoyed being with her family and was a devoted mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her children David J. Gauley, Jr. and his wife Yvonne of Arizona, William A. Gauley and his wife Joanne of Maine, and Donald Colby and his wife Janice of Hanson, her sisters Gladys Elwell and Ellen Merritt both of Hanover, her six grandchildren Carl Gauley, Michelle Chamberlain, Billie Jo Thibault, Michael Gauley, Jill Colby, and Peter Colby, her three great grandchildren Tyler Gauley, Shea Frank, and Shannon Spiers, and her one great great grandchild Alex Willet, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Peter W. Colby, sister of the late Preston, George, and Paul Landers, and grandmother of the late Angela Colby.

Her funeral service will be held Saturday August 8 at 3 PM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel Plymouth Street (Rt. 58 at the rotary) Whitman. Burial will be at a later date. Visiting hours will be held two hours prior to the service from 1-3 PM. Donations in her name may be made to the Hospice of Massachusetts 577 Main Street Wareham, MA 02571.
