James A. Hatch, 85, of Pembroke died, Monday August 3rd in the Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital, after a period of failing health. He was the husband of 62 years to the late Frances (Hammond) Hatch who passed away on June 22, 2009.Jim was born in Brockton and he was the son of the late Raymond and E. Helena (Berry) Hatch. He was raised in Brockton, a graduate of Brockton High School and he also attended Bentley College. He was a veteran of the United States Army Air force from 1943-1945, as a Tail Gunner for 42 missions. Jim then became a programmer for the Bostonian Shoe Company in Whitman and also the Augut Company in Mansfield. He enjoyed playing hockey, bowling, golf and fishing.
He is survived by, his son James A. Hatch, Jr., and his wife Anita of Bourne, his 2 daughters, Donna Rudolph of Middleboro and Valerie Warwick and her husband Charles, of Pembroke, his brothers D. Robert of Canton, MA, Arthur of Venice, FL., John of Canton, TX. and G. Laurie Hatch of San Francisco, CA.,, his sister, and Elizabeth ”Bette” Matheson of Lakeville, MA., his brother-law Robert Hammond of Whitman, MA.; grandfather of 10 and great-grandfather of 11;several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Charles and Frank Hatch.
His services will be held on Saturday August 8th at 9:30AM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel Plymouth Street (Rt. 58 at the rotary) Whitman. Internment will follow in the Colebrook Cemetery, Whitman, MA.
