WESTPORT - Edwin B."Ted" Comstock, 80, of Westport died unexpectedly athome on Friday, August 1, 2003. He was the husband of Jane (Ratajczak) Comstock. He was born in Westport son of the late Elbert and Helen (Smith) Comstock andwas a lifelong resident of Westport.
He was formerly employed as a MaintenanceSupervisor by Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. of New Bedford until his retirement. Hewas formerly employed by O'Hara's Lincoln Mercury of New Bedford as a Salesmanand a parts department manager. He had also worked as an Office Manager forGosnold Mills.
Mr. Comstock was a Private First Class in the U.S.Army Air force where heserved as a pilot in WWII. He attended several schools, he studied to become aTeacher, Barber, Bookkeeper and a Pilot. Ted was a man who found great pleasure inthe simple things in life. He was very proud of his family and had many friends. Heenjoyed spending time outside at his home and taking long walks in the woods. He alsoenjoyed gardening, biking, camping, reading to his grandchildren, spending time withhis loving wife and children. Ted also enjoyed many days with his faithful dog Happy.
Although he was not affiliated with any church he was a man of God and tried to liveby his word. He contributed to many charities over his lifetime. He was loved by allwho knew him for his kindness, generosity, and sense of humor. He will be deeplymissed.
In addition to his wife he is survived by a son: Edwin B. Comstock ofMattapoisett; 2 daughters: Jill A. Law of Dartmouth and Karen A. Vital of Westport; 2brothers: Harold Comstock of Westport and Robert Comstock of New Bedford; 3grandchildren: Morissa H. Vital, Jenna R. Vital and Olivia L. Vital all of Westport; 2Son-In-Laws: Fred Law of Dartmouth and Scott Vital of Westport, and several nieces& nephews. Father of the late Sandra May Comstock. He was brother of the lateElbert Comstock, Jr., Carlton Comstock and Ralph Comstock. A private cremation service will be held and a memorial service celebrating his life will be held at a later date. Calling hours are omitted. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to a charity of your choice.
