David J. Cardoza, 96, of New Bedford, died Monday August 3, 2009 at The Oaks. He was the husband of the late Jeanne F. (Cormier) Cardoza.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Joseph E. and Sara (Blais) Cardoza, he lived in New Bedford for most of his life.
He was a communicant of Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish, where he was a member of the St. Vincent dePaul Society.
Mr. Cardoza was formerly employed as a stationary steam engineer for N.A. Textile Corporation.
He was a member of the Holy Name-Sacred Heart Seniors, the New Bedford Guild for the Blind, the Mass. Senior Action Council and the Visionary Impaired.
Survivors include two children, Therese Beaulieu and her husband Robert, and Andre Cardoza and his wife Jo-Ann, all of New Bedford; a brother, Vincent Paul Cardoza of Florida; a sister, Rita Oliver of New Bedford; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Alice O'Donnell, Isabella, Theresa, Randall, Joseph, Louis, and Wallace Cardoza .
His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday at 9 AM in Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church. Visiting hours Wednesday 4-8 PM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
