BERKLEY – Ernest L. LaPointe, Sr., husband of the late Sally Ann (Paiva) LaPointe, died on Aug. 2, 2009 at the age of 83.
Born in Norton, he was the son of the late Romeo D. and Emma E. (Flanagan) LaPointe.
Educated in Norton schools, he later served in the U.S. Navy during WW II.
In 1957, he established the LaPointe Trucking Co., which he owned and operated for over 20 years.
Subsequently, he was employed by Benny’s as a stock room manager for 10 years, before retiring at the age of 68.
Mr. LaPointe was an avid outdoor sportsman.
Survivors include 6 sons, Ernest LaPointe, Jr., Ronald and Donald LaPointe, and Richard and David Tweedy, all of Taunton, and Kenneth LaPointe of Attleboro;
5 daughters, Linda Leary of Fredericksburg, VA, Emma E. James of Attleboro, Victoria Diggle of Pawtucket, Debra Weiss of Taunton and Sharon Waterman of E. Taunton;
a sister, Harriet Wambolt of Taunton; an aunt, Florence Dion of Norton; 29 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway on Thursday, Aug. 6th at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Mary’s Church at 10 a.m.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling Hours will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, Aug. 5th, from 5 to 8 p.m.
