Marblehead: Dorothy A. Marquis of Marblehead, died suddenly Friday, July 31, 2009 at the NSMC / Salem Hospital. She was the daughter of Emma C. (Ciosek) Marquis and the late Lionel H. Marquis.
Born in Salem and raised in Marblehead, she was a graduate of Salem Hospital School of Nursing. Dottie worked as an operating room nurse at Salem Hospital and the Mass. Eye and Ear of Boston. She retired from nursing in 2001.
She loved knitting and reading and was especially attached to her pet Bichon Frise named Romeo.
In addition to her mother Emma who now resides in Salem, she is survived by 3 sisters, Janice M. Fearn and her husband Alan of Shrewsbury, Brenda L. Sullivan and her husband Bernard of Camden, ME, Carolyn E. Ganglani of Marblehead, and 2 uncles, Chester Ziakowski and his wife Frances and Richard Ziarkowski and his wife Marjory all of Salem. She was devoted to her several nieces and nephews and her dear friend Linda Moustakis of Salem. She was niece of the late George W. Marquis.
Relatives and friends are invited to her memorial service on Thursday at 10 a.m. in the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St. [Rt. 114 / 1-A] Salem. A committal service will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
