Obituary

Wilbur Morris Berry, Sr. was called home Sunday August 2, 2009 at Clarksville Manor. The home going service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at Neal-Tarpley Chapel with Dr. Larry Robertson officiating. Burial will be in the cemetery of Pleasant View Baptist Church in the Cumberland Heights community. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday and from 10 a.m. until the hour of the service on Wednesday at Neal-Tarpley Funeral Home. He was born November 11, 1921 in Charlotte, Tennessee, the son of the late John Herbert Berry and Lula Brazell Berry. He was preceded in death by his brother, Paul Daniel Berry and sister, Emma Louise Berry. He was a member of Memorial Baptist Church at the time of his home going, but prior to that he had been a faithful member of Pleasant View Baptist Church for 50 years. He owned and operated Midway TV & Appliance, Inc. at 815 Crossland Avenue. He retired in 1990 after 33 years. He was a veteran of World War II as a Technician Grade 5 for heavy automotive maintenance. He was involved in four campaigns: Normandy, the Rhineland, Central Europe and Northern France. He was awarded the Honorable Service Pin, Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with Bronze Stars, and World War II Victory Medal. He will be buried with military honors. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Helen E. Suiter Berry, Clarksville; sons, Wilbur Morris (Julie) Berry, Jr. and Dwight (Pam) Berry; daughter, Star Berry; all of Clarksville and sisters, Evelyn (Alex) Logan of Cumberland Furnace, TN and Joy Groves of Charlotte, TN and three grandchildren; Robert Berry, Craig Peters, and Tiffany Noelle.
