Obituary

Marlin M. Schubert of taunton, MA. Born Nov. 30th 1919 in Schenectady, NY. Died on July 29, 2009. Son of Linda M. Schubert and William M. Himmelwright. He graduated from Mont Pleasant High School class of 1939, in Schenectady, NY. He joined the apprentice program at General Electric where he graduated as a tool and dye maker. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1944. Serving during WWII on the USS Battleship Pennsylvania. He was stationed in Saipan and involved in the battle of OwoJima and the Philippine Liberation. After the Navy he went on to receive his bachelors degree in mechanical engineering from Syracuse University. He retired as a professional engineer from Ebasco Services. He last worked as a contractor for the US Navel Base in Kings Bay, St. Mary’s GA. He was involved in many organizations including the Masons, at St. George Lodge #6 in Schenectady where he recently reveived his 65 year pin from the Grand Lodge of the state of NY. He was also a member of the Jacksonville FL. Shriners. Also a member of the NCT – {National Camping Travelors.} He loved to travel and camp, taking many trips with his wife cross country, including Alaska and Canada. He was a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Taunton. Marlin married Jean Salisbury in 1947; with much love and patience they successfully raised 4 children. He is survived by his wife Jean Schubert of taunton, MA. His daughter Gail Hanson and her husband Peter of Belmont, NH. His daughter Barbara Brillant and husband Rusty of Wareham, MA His son Gary Schubert and wife Kerry of Norton, MA. His son Eric Schubert and wife Michelle of Maybrook, NY. He also is survived by 9 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Also including his half brothers Richard Himmelwright and wife Barbara, William Himmelwright and wife Ruth, all of Scotia, New York. And his half sister Gwendolyn Demarest and husband Halbert of Orange City, Florida. A memorial service will be held at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, 1229 Barker Ave. in Schenectady, NY. on Thursday, August 6th at 1pm. Arrangements are being handled by the O’Keefe-Wade Funeral Home in Taunton, MA. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made in his name to the American Heart Association, MA.
