Obituary

Bernice L. (Hanlon) Burke, 91 of Medway died July 30 in the Lydia Taft House in Uxbridge. She was the wife of the late Francis J. Burke, former Superintendent of Schools for Medway who died in April.
Born in Medway, February 1, 1918, the daughter of the late Patrick and Jennie (Murphy) Hanlon, Mrs. Burke had lived in Medway for most of her life.
A graduate of Medway High School, Mrs. Burke had been a member of St. Mary’s Sodality in Franklin, the Franklin Meals on Wheels and the Legion of Mary.
Mrs. Burke enjoyed gardening and above all spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Robert F. Burke and his wife, Ellen of Athol, Thomas F. Burke and his wife, Linda of Key West, Florida, Joseph P. Burke and his wife, Joan of Uxbridge, Mary Fahey and her husband, Michael of Uxbridge, and Susan Groehl and her husband, Robert of Uxbridge.
She is also survived by her sister, Doris Stewart and her husband, Charles of Shrewsbury, and her brothers, Paul Hanlon of Michigan and Raymond Hanlon and his wife, Lois of Midlothian Virginia.
Mrs. Burke is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
Her funeral will be held on Monday, August 3 from the Ginley-Crowley Funeral Home, 3 Barber St. in Medway at 9:15 followed by a funeral Mass in St. Joseph Church at 10:00 a.m.
Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Medway.
Calling hours will be on Sunday from 5-8 p.m.
