Sophie Carson, 90, of Ledyard passed away Tuesday surrounded by her family.
She was born on November 19, 1918 in New London, the daughter of John and Rita (Lucidi) Salvatore.
She graduated from Williams Memorial in 1938. She attended the Old Mystic United Methodist Church and in her spare time enjoyed gardening, reading and cooking.
She married Duncan Hugo Carson on September 28, 1940 at St. Joseph's Church in New London. They enjoyed 62 years of marriage before his passing on November 11, 2002.
Mrs. Carson is survived by her three children: Duncan J. Carson and his wife Linda of Kittery ME, Robert M. Carson and his wife Patricia of Oakdale, and Carol Barnes Craig and her husband Bill of Mystic, eight grandchildren, Michele Rider, Cheryl Rivers, Brian Carson, Lisa Duca, Michael Brisson, David Brisson, Scott Barnes and Michael Barnes, several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings, Minnie Henderson, Lucy McDermott, Margaret Denby, and Pauline Lorusso.
A Funeral Service will be conducted at The Old Mystic United Methodist Church, Rte. 27, Old Mystic on Friday at 11am. Private burial will be at Noank Valley Cemetery. There are no visiting hours.
