Obituary




Laconia----- Roland Paul Giguere, 89, died on Monday, July 27, 2009 at the Saint Francis Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Laconia, N.H.
Roland was born on March 1, 1920, in Lakeport, N.H., the son of Delphis and Mary Jane (Gagne) Giguere. He lived most of his life in Laconia, moving back here five years ago from Bradenton, Florida.
Roland was a Master Sergeant in the US Army Air Forces during WWII stationed throughout the United States with most time spent in Washington, D.C. After the war, he was employed by Scott and Williams and then by Pike Industries, Inc. as Comptroller, retiring in 1982.
Roland was an avid reader and enjoyed playing golf after retiring. Roland loved to travel with family and friends. His journeys took him throughout the continental U.S., Italy, Israel and his all time favorite, Hawaii.
Roland is survived by his sister, Cecile LaRoche, of So. Easton, MA.; brothers, Raymond and his wife, Rachel, of Belmont, N.H., Robert of Bradenton, Florida; sister-in-law, Ophelia Giguere, of Laconia and brother-in-law, George Pelletier. of Laconia.
Although never married, Roland, known affectionately as “Uncle Roland” by his many nieces and nephews, played an intricate part in all of their lives and will be remembered forever. They include Mary Kanney of Campbell Hall, N.Y., Marylin Dunten of White River, Jct., VT, David LaRoche of Bethesda, MD, Peter Giguere of Laconia, NH, Ronnie LaRoche of Brooksville, FL, Dennis Giguere of Hill, NH, Denise Joyal of Laconia, NH, Donna Farrell of North Easton, MA, Ann Kriger of Baton Rouge, LA, Ann Morrison of North Port, FL, Donnie Giguere, of Coventry, CT, Karen Larsen of Coventry, CT and Kimberley Sargent of Belmont, NH and many great nieces and nephews and another whole generation of great-great nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Roland was predeceased by his brothers, Wilfred Giguere and George Giguere, sister, Helen Pelletier, nephew, Peter Pelletier and his beloved cat, Nicki..
A calling hour will be held on Friday, July 31, 2009 from 10:30-11:30AM in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, N. H.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, July 31, 2009 at Noon at Our Lady of the Lakes Church, 30 Washington Street, Lakeport, N. H.
Burial will follow in the family lot in Sacred heart Cemetery, Laconia.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Saint Francis Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Activities Fund, 406 Court Street, Laconia, N. H. 03246 or to Community Health & Hospice, Inc., 780 North Main Street, Laconia, N. H. 03246.
