Mrs. Eva S. (Lortie) Gomez, of Taunton, died Monday, July 27 in Marian Manor
following a lengthy illness. She was the wife of the late Arthur Gomez. She was born
101 years ago in East Taunton, the daughter of the late Louis and Louisa (Henault)
Lortie. She was educated in East Taunton and had been a lifelong city resident. Prior
to her retirement, she had been employed as a liner for the former Eureka Manufactur-
ing Company for many years. Mrs. Gomez enjoyed music and playing the harmonica.
She was also a volunteer for Our Daily Bread in Taunton. A communicant of the former
St. Joseph’s Church in Taunton, she was a member of the St. Joseph’s Church Womens
Guild and the Westside Senior Citizens Club.
She leaves:

1 nephew: Alfred Lortie of Attleboro
several grandnieces and grandnephews
Mrs. Gomez was also the sister of the late Celia Pariseault, Alice Zeiba, Albert Lortie
and Armand Lortie.
Funeral services will be held from The Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home, 467 Bay Street,
on Thursday, July 30 at 10:00 A.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow in St. An-
drew the Apostle Church, Tremont Street, at 11:00 A.M. Interment will be in Pinehill
Cemetery, East Taunton. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. A Visiting Hour will precede the funeral, Thursday, from 9:00 to 10:00 A.M. Expressions of sympathy in
