OBITUARY
Fitchburg
Theodore "Ted" Soubie Sr. 92, died Sunday July 26, at the Golden Living
Center.
Ted leaves his wife of 63 years, Vellamo "Velma" (Luomala) Soubie, his
sons and their spouses Theodore Jr. and Sheila A. Soubie of Fitchburg
and Donald R. and Gail Soubie of Bel Air, MD. His daughters and sons-in-
law ann Marie and George A. Douglas of Leominster and Brenda Louise
and Arthur LeBlanc of Rindge, N.H. His twin brother Duncan Soubie of
Winchendon. Five grandaughters, two step-grandaughters, twin
grandsons and two great grandchildren. He also leaves many nieces and
nephews.
Ted was born in Boston, May 29, 1917. He has lived in Fitchburg most of
his life. He graduated from Fitchburg High School in 1936. He was
employed for 37 years at Hollingsworth and Vose as a paper maker. He
retired at age 65.
Ted was an army veteran of World War ll and served in the European
African Middle Eastern theater, Rome Arno and North Appenines. He
earned the Combat Infantryman's Badge and was awarded the Good
Conduct Medal and the European African Middle Eastern Campaign
Ribbon.
Ted was a lifetime member of the Lewis Ayer Post V.F.W. He enjoyed
crossword puzzles, cribbage, bowling and horseshoes.
A funeral service will be held on Friday July 31, at 11:00 A.M. in the Bosk
Funeral Home 85 Blossom St., Rev. Keith Alderman pastor of the Pilgrim
Congregational Church of Leominster will officiate. Calling hours in the
funeral home are Thursday from 5 to 7 P.M. In lieu of flowers contributions
may be made to Disabled American Veterans or the V.F.W. Post 794 and
may be left at the funeral home.
