Greta E. Dahlstrom, 94, formerly of Worcester, Mass., departed this life on July 23, 2009, in Lawrence, Kans. In November 2008, Greta left her many friends at Briarwood Retirement Community, where she had lived since 2001, to be closer to her daughter Laura and her family in Kansas.
Mrs. Dahlstrom worked for Norton Company, for Malmstead Insurance Company, and as a dental assistant. She was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church and its Anna Circle. A lifelong member of Vasa Lodge, she held various offices in the Worcester Women’s Club and served as president of the Fairlawn Hospital Auxiliary.
Born in Worcester on December 9, 1914, she was the daughter of Edwin H. and Elsie White Lindahl. She married Harry R. Kriegstrom in 1942; he preceded her in death in 1966. In 1968 she married Walter G. Dahlstrom, who passed away in 2000. Her brother, William H. Lindahl, and her twin sister, Anna H. Ojerholm, also preceded her in death.
Mrs. Dahlstrom is survived by two daughters, Laura, and her husband Don Stull of Lawrence, Kans.; Ann, and her husband David Forsberg, Worcester; one son, Rodney Dahlstrom of Mansfield, Mass.; and three nephews: Bill and Edwin Lindahl, Virginia, and Peter V. Ojerholm, Worcester. She also leaves her beloved grandchildren: Beth Dahlstrom, Ross Dahlstrom, Dana Forsberg, Drew Forsberg, Carrie Holtan, Kristina Poracsky, and Rome Poracsky, as well as six great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, 73 Lancaster, Street, Worcester, on Tuesday, August 4, at 11:00 a.m., followed by a reception. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in her name to Lutheran Healthcare Center of Worcester, Paul and Carol Kennedy Wing, 26 Harvard Street, Worcester, MA, 01609.
