WORCESTER___Robert F. Hesselton, 76, of Worcester, died Friday, July 24, 2009 in St. Vincent Hospital, 123 Summer Street.
He leaves his wife of 53 years, Joan A. (Turner) Hesselton, a son, Robert R. Hesselton, three daughters, Susan Mitchell, Brenda Richard and Lyndel Holland all of Worcester, nine grandchildren, one great-grandson, two brothers, Alton E. Hesselton of Worcester and David L. Hesselton of Virginia; a sister, Athlyn Fontaine of Connecticut and many nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by four brothers and five sisters, Clarence H., Ralph D., William G. and Richard R. Hesselton, Elaine R. Snair, Beatrice M. Sanders, Betty Ann Start, Mildred E. Starvaski and Florence A. Hesselton. He was born in Worcester, a son of Russell C. and Ethel A. (Gilmore) Hesselton and lived here all his life.
Mr. Hesselton was a tool maker 37 years for Parker Manufacturing Co. and retired in 1995. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War and was an Airmen 2nd class. Robert was a volunteer for the Veterans Administration Clinic, Lincoln St., Worcester and received an award honoring his service to veterans and the clinic.
The funeral will be held on Tuesday, July 28 with a service at 11:00 a.m. in DIRSA-MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 298 Grafton Street. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. A calling hour will be held on Tuesday, July 28 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home.
