James J. Ryan
...retired driver for Teamsters Local 25; age 67
Billerica - James J. Ryan Jr., age 67, a retired truck driver, died Sunday morning, July 26, at his Billerica home surrounded by his family, following a courageous 18 month battle with cancer. He was the beloved husband of Joan F. (Cadigan) Ryan, with whom he had celebrated a 46th wedding anniversary this past September 21st. He was born in Charlestown, August 3, 1941, a son of James J. Ryan Sr, of Charlestown, and the late Anna "Bunky" (Kiley) Ryan.
During the Vietnam War Era, he served in the U.S. Army, stationed with the European forces.
He was a member of the Fr. Coppen's Council, Knights of Columbus, Council 4336 in Tewksbury. His children described him as having devoted his life to his wife and his family.
Besides his wife and father, he is survived by two children, Joan F. Ryan of Billerica, and James J. Ryan III and his wife Karen (Goglia) of Tewksbury; three grandchildren, Walter Nadeau and his wife Cyndi of Pepperell, Kerry Lorino and her husband Tony of Billerica, and Robert J. Ryan of Tewksbury; three great grandchildren, Joshua, Sean, and Arianna; three siblings, Anna Schulze and her husband Gerald of Mashpee, MA, Joseph Ryan and his wife Mary Ann of Somerville, Patricia "Tisha" Considine and her husband James of Wakefield; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Timothy Cadigan of ME, Anne and Al Richards of Tewksbury, Maureen and Phil Francis of Tewksbury, Frank Homer of Billerica, James McGlinchy of Tewksbury; and many nieces and nephews.
He was also brother-in-law of the late Catherine Homer and Eileen McGlinchy.
His Funeral Mass was celebrated Wednesday, July 29, in St. William's Church, Tewksbury. Burial with Army Honors followed at Fox Hill Cemetery, Billerica. Memorials to "Joey's Plunge" Camp Sunshine, 35 Acadia Rd., Casco, ME 04015 or visit www.campsunshine.org. will be appreciated.
