Obituary

Malcolm Hunter Hancock, 92, Clarksville, went to be with the Lord Saturday, July 25, 2009. The funeral will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at Neal-Tarpley Funeral Home with Dr. Roger Freeman officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday and from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service Wednesday at the funeral home. Neal-Tarpley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. He was born January 26, 1917 in Montgomery County. He was the son of Elsie Hunter Hancock and Annie Mary Whitfield Hancock. He was an Assistant Post Master for the U.S. Postal Service. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and served on the USS Project AM 2878 as a Radarman and mail clerk during World War II. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Clarksville and served as a Deacon Emeritus. He was a member of the Baracca Class at First Baptist church. He was preceded in death by his parents Elsie Hunter Hancock and Annie Mary Whitfield Hancock, his brothers, Howard Douglas Hancock, Robert Edward Hancock, Leslie Eugene Hancock, Alfred Ewing Hancock, his wife Annie Belle Anderson Hancock, his granddaughter Deanna Lynn Hancock, his grandson Jeffery Glenn Winter, his granddaugher in-law Jimmie Cassidy Winter and great granddaughter Jordan Winter. Surviving family members include daughters Bettye Jo Schmidt (George), Frances Ann Wilson (Gene), Linda Joyce Hopper (Richard)and son Thomas Hunter Hancock (Linda Kingsmill), eleven granchildren and seventeen great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Kent Winter, Bill Wilson, Brad Wilson, Jason Hancock, Curtis Thomas and Billy Ray Anderson. Honorary Pallbearers include members of the Baracca Class.
