PAWCATUCK: Edith “Sis” M. Whipple, 62, of 46 Moss St., Pawcatuck, died Thursday, July 31, 2003 at home with her family and loved ones beside her.
Born in New London, CT, on April 2, 1941, she was the daughter of Edith (Salisbury) Swanson of Mystic, and the late Gustaf Swanson.
She was retired from Pfizer Inc., where she was highly respected by her co-workers and regarded as a dedicated employee.
Mrs. Whipple was a devoted mother, daughter and friend. She enjoyed arts and crafts, was a lifelong horse enthusiast, and volunteered in the grandparents’ program at Claude Chester Elementary School.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her true love and best friend of 23 years, Bernard Ball, whom she made her home with, 3 daughters, Deborah Whipple and fiance Henry Reed Jr. of Groton, Jeannie Stafford and husband Brian of North Stonington, Laurie Whipple and husband Robert Moyer Jr. of Groton, two sons, Michael Whipple and wife Amy of Mystic, Edward Whipple and fiance Christina Fletcher of Mystic, a brother Fred Swanson and wife Noreen of Kennebunkport, Maine, and nine grandchildren, Julie Delzer, Michael Stafford, Stefanie Whipple, Jerrica Moyer, Tiara Moyer, Chandler Moyer, Sydney Whipple, Megan Whipple and Nathan Whipple.
Mrs. Whipple was predeceased by her son Robert Whipple and brother Charles Swanson.
The family will greet relatives and friends at The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Historic downtown Mystic on Sunday from 4-7pm. Her service will be conducted on Monday at 10:30am at the funeral home.
