Albert Lefler Powers, Jr., 73, of Norman Park died Thursday, July 23, 2009 at the Medical College of South Carolina in Charleston, South Carolina. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 26, 2009, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Rev. William Fogarty will officiate with burial to follow in Tift Memorial Gardens. Jamie Powers, Michael Dillon, Steve Moore, Cole Moore, Virgil Boyd and Vann Powers will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 25, 2009, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mr. Powers was born on June 26, 1936 in Wise County, Virginia and was the son of Albert Lefler Powers, Sr. and Nora Mullins Powers, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by several brothers and sisters. He was truck driver and a member of the Moose Lodge in South Carolina. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force.
Mr. Powers is survived by his wife, Frances Marie Maupin Powers of Norman Park; one son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Nellie Powers of Norman Park; one daughter and son-in-law, Angela and Steve Moore of Ty Ty; one brother, Donald Powers of Virginia; one sister, Frances Powers of Baltimore, Maryland; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren.
