Obituary

Jane W. (McNab) Sullivan, 84, died July 18, 2009 at her home in Stratham, NH after a lengthy illness, surrounded by her family.

“Jean”, as she was known, was born August 8, 1924, in North Andover, Mass. shortly after her family emigrated from Scotland. She was the daughter of Hugh and Jane (Cooper) McNab.

She graduated from Johnson High School in North Andover, MA in 1942 where she was a standout basketball player. She met her future husband, Alfred K. Sullivan at the Crystal Ballroom in North Andover, and they married in 1948. They moved to Salem, NH and raised their six children. Jean worked for many years in the Salem school system as a school secretary in several schools. In 1969, they moved to East Kingston, NH, and later retired to Fort Lauderdale and Deland, Florida. More recently, Alfred and Jean returned to New Hampshire, living for a time at the home of their daughter, Debbie, in Salem, NH and in 2007 moved to the home of their daughter, Judy in Stratham, NH. Jean especially enjoyed doing needle work, and many of her pieces are displayed in her home as well as the homes of her family.

She was predeceased by her beloved son, Daniel in 1978, and Sisters Agnes Gracie, and Ruby Packard.

Jean is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Alfred K. Sullivan, son
Bruce and his wife Pat of Dunbarton, daughter Debbie Desantis and her husband Steve , of Londonderry, daughter Judy Dowling and her husband Dana of Stratham, son Michael and his wife Elaine of Debary, Florida, and daughter Pat Dagostino, of Kensington. She also leaves behind twelve grandchildren, Jeffrey Sullivan and wife Maria, of Tuono, Va., Jennifer Morin, and husband Mike of Weare, NH, Pamela White and husband John of Londonderry, Jessica Thompson and husband Tim of Concord, NH,
Daniel Sullivan , of Chester, NH, Amy Labossiere, of Salem, NH, Allison Dowling, of Burlington, Vt., Emily Dowling of Stratham, Shannon Sullivan and Ryan Sullivan of Debary, Florida, Bryan Dagostino, of Portsmouth, NH and Jason Dagostino of Burlington, VT. Jean also is survived by eighteen great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held Wednesday, July 22 from 5-8 PM at the Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main Street, Salem, NH. Graveside services will be held at a later date.
