In St.Petersburg, FL. July 13, 2009 Robert C. Barbour of Taunton, MA. Beloved husband and father and retired business executive, died suddenly at the age of 73. Robert was the husband of the late Rose G. (Dienes) Barbour. Mr. Barbour was a graduate of Columbus High School in Columbus, Indiana and of Purdue University in West Layfayette, Indiana. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army. He had been a deacon in the Presbyterian Church and was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution and was a Kentucky Colonel. He also held an amatuer radio license. Robert had been an executive at B.F. Goodrich Co. and a vice president of four companies including Irving Industries Inc., Bairnco Inc. Shielding Division, the Greenwich Corp. and Haskon Corp. where he was the Chairman and C.E.O. He had lived in several states and often traveled overseas. In recent years he was a business consultant and was active as a volunteer with the American Red Cross and the Taunton Emergency Management Agency. Robert was a member of the West Congregational Church in Taunton. He is survived by his two sons Eric of Meridan, CT. and Timothy and his wife Lori and grandchildren Kristen and Emily of Saugus, CA. His Brother Michael of Alexandria, VA. and one neice and nephew. A funeral home service will be held at the O’Keefe-Wade Funeral Home, 70 Washington St. Taunton, MA. on Tues., July 21st at 1pm. Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours prior to the service from 11am. to 1pm. Interment in Mayflower Hill Cemetery in Taunton.
