Lucille M. (Phaneuf) Cote, 85, of Norton passed away peacefully on Monday July 20, 2009 at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. She was the beloved wife of the late Ralph W. Cote who passed away on January 3, 2004.
Born in Atttleboro, MA on May 23, 1924 she was a dear daughter of the late Julien and Clara (Gaudreau) Phaneuf.
An Attleboro native, she grew up in Attleboro and was educated in Attleboro public schools. In 1950 she moved to Norton where she remained a resident for the past 59 years.
Mrs. Cote was a dedicated homemaker to her adoring family who loved her very much. She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Norton and when not spending time with her family, enjoyed tending to the beautiful rose bushes in her yard.
She is survived by her devoted son Ronald R. Cote of Norton, her cherished grandchildren Remmic R. Cote of Norton, Dennis E. Freeman of Norton and Heather L. Freeman of Taunton. Also surviving are her dear great grandchildren Roland R. Cote, Gabriella M. Cote, Tyler Freeman, Mariyah Freeman, Kaliegh Freeman and several nieces and nephews.
Her funeral, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Friday July 24th at 8:00 A.M. from the Norton Memorial Funeral Home 19 Clapp St. (Off Route 140, Taunton Ave.) Norton followed by a mass of Christian burial celebrated at 9:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church 133 South Worcester St. Norton. Burial will follow in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne at 11:15 A.M.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday July 23rd from 4-7 P.M., at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home.
Due to the limitation of flowers allowed at the National Cemetery, Lucille’s family has requested that donations in her memory be made to the American Diabetes Association P.O. Box 11454 Alexandria, VA 22312.
