Obituary

WORCESTER - Charles R. “Costa” Chaplain, 77, of Dorchester St., died Saturday, July 18, in Radius Health Care Center, Worcester, after an illness.

He leaves his wife of 45 years, Georgia (Economou) Chaplain; two daughters, Ellen Chaplain of Holden and Sophia Jeovaras and her husband Fotios of Spencer; a son, Anastasis Tasopoulos and his wife Sophia of Auburn; 5 grandchildren; two brothers, Peter Chaplain and his wife Christine of Oxford and the Rev. John Chaplain and his wife Maura of Fresno, CA; nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Paul, William and Spiro Chaplain and by a sister, Katherine Chaplain.

He was born and raised in Dudley, a son of the Rev. John Chaplain and Claire (Cravaris) Chaplain. He resided in Chicago and Webster before moving to Worcester in the 1970's.

Mr. Chaplain was a member of Saint Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Worcester.

The funeral will be held Wednesday, July 22, from the Sitkowski & Malboeuf Funeral Home, 340 School St., Webster, with a service at 10:00 AM in Saints Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church, 37 Lake Parkway, Webster. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery, Webster. Calling hours will be from 5:00 to 8:00 PM Tuesday, July 21, in the funeral home.,with a Trisagion service at 7:00 PM. Donations in his memory may be made to Family Center, c/o St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell St., Worcester, MA 01609.
