Mr. Nicholas Pournaras, 68, passed away Tuesday July 14th.
Nicholas was born June 16, 1941 in Livadero, Greece a son of the late Antonios and Ekaterini (Karapetsas) Pournaras.
He served in the Greek navy and came to the United States in 1966.
Nicholas was a member of the Assumption of Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church in Dracut.
He is survived by his loving wife of forty-two years, Christina(Xigoros) Pournaras of Lowell; two daughters, Eleni Pournaras of Malden, Katerina Chiola and her husband David of Dracut; a son, Antonios Pournaras and his wife Nancy of Pelham, NH; four grandchildren, Christa, Christina, Nicholas, and Alexandria; two sisters, Athanasia Roggotis of Pelham, NH, and Marianthi Danilis and her husband Theodore of Australia; a brother, Dimitrios Pournaras and his wife Voula of Greece; a sister in law, Vasiliki Sotirakos and her husband Costas of Lowell; four brothers in law, Fotios Xigoros of Lowell, Athanasios Xigoros of Lowell; Ioannis Xigoros and his wife Katerina of Dracut, Dimitrios Xigoros and his wife Fotula of Greece; also many nieces and nephews.
Nicholas was the brother to the late Eleni Tsianakas.
Friends will be received at the M. R. LAURIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 295 Pawtucket St. Lowell on Sunday from 2 to 5pm. His funeral will take place on Monday at 9:30am from the Funeral Home to be followed by a funeral service at Assumption of Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church in Dracut at 10:30am.
