Mr. Lester Ray Caldwell, 80, of Fitzgerald died Friday, July 17, 2009 at his residence.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00, Wednesday morning, July 22 at Tharp Funeral Chapel, Bedford, Virginia with Pastor Ron Young, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Virginia Memorial Park.
Mr. Caldwell was born March 19, 1929 in Rockbridge County Virginia to the late Daniel William Caldwell and Fannie Ellen Dudley Caldwell. He moved to Fitzgerald approximately 6 years ago from Roanoke, VA. Mr. Caldwell was in the Mobile Home setup and transport business and was retired owner of Caldwell Mobile Home Movers. He was of the Baptist faith.
Mr. Caldwell is survived by his children: Katherine Hayth of Mystic, Lester Ray “Scott” Caldwell Jr. of Grove City, OH, Clayton Randall Caldwell of Fitzgerald, Michael Rudolph Caldwell of Roanoke, VA, Ruby Ellen Hayslette of Gatlinburg, TN, Kevin Eugene Caldwell of Vinton, VA and Elizabeth Marie Ashby of Boones Mill, VA; 15 grandchildren and several great grandchildren and a sister, Lizzie Bowen of Bedford, VA. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Louise Rickman Caldwell and a son-in-law, Terry Hayth.
