Veda Matilda (Erikson) Skoglund, widow of Gustaf A. Skoglund, was called home on Friday, July 17, 2009. Veda was born in Worcester on October 14, 1911, daughter of Bertha A. (Sjogren) and B. Gustaf Erikson. She was predeceased by two brothers and a sister, George, Clifton, and Viola Erikson. She is survived by her two sons, Richard G. Skoglund, and his wife, Susan, of Trenton, Michigan and George R. Skoglund, and his wife, Edita, of Northborough, Massachusetts, and her grandson, Caleb E. Skoglund.
Veda and Gus met at Salvation Army meetings in Greendale and were married for 74 years. She was a member of the Burncoat Baptist Church (formerly the Lincoln Square Baptist Church) and its various women’s groups. She enjoyed gardening.
She will be buried beside her husband at the All Faiths (New Swedish) Cemetery. A calling hour will be held at 10 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 28, 2009, at the Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln Street, Worcester, Massachusetts. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the General Fund, Burncoat Baptist Church, 475 Burncoat St., Worcester MA 01606.
