Mary Alberta (Collins) Lawler of Dedham, recently of West Roxbury, passed away July 17, 2009 at the age of 93 after a brief illness.
Mary graduated from Teachers' College of Boston and taught music in Boston Public Schools before marrying Paul F. Lawler, a management consultant who would later become Protodeacon of the Annunciation Melkite Greek Catholic Church. They spent 65 happy years together before Rev. Paul Lawler's death in August 2007. A dedicated wife and mother, Mary was an active presence in local community and church affairs. She also taught French at Ursuline Academy in Dedham during the 1960s.
She and Paul had 6 children: Frances Conley and her husband Gerry of Seattle; Ellen Ugi of Wareham and her late husband Joe; Elizabeth Dunn of NH and her late husband David; Mary Lawler Voorhees and her husband John of NM; Philip Lawler and his wife Leila of Lancaster, and John Lawler of Hingham. Mary was the proud grandmother of 13: Myles and Rita Conley; Dan, Tim, and Jeremy Dunn; Carl Wickstrom; Rosie Lawler Turner and Nick, Suzanne, Joseph, Deirdre, William, and Bridget Lawler. Dear great-grandmother of Nolan Dunn.
Mary's Funeral Service was held July 20, 2009 at the Annunciation Melkite Cathedral, 7 VFW Pkwy, West Roxbury. Contributions in Mary’s memory may be made to the Cathedral or to the American Red Cross of Massachusetts Bay 139 Main St. Cambridge, MA 02142.
Interment Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Boston.
