Obituary



Dorothy C. “ Charlie “ ( Walsh ) Ruggiero, a 63 year resident of Stoughton passed away after a brief illness on Thursday July 16, 2009 at The Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton. She was 86 years old and the beloved wife of the late John P. Ruggiero to whom she was married to for over 60 years.

Born on November 29, 1922 in Norwood , Massachusetts she was the loving daughter of the late Patrick F. Walsh Sr. and Mary E. ( Collins ) Walsh. She attended Norwood Public Schools and was a graduate of Norwood High School.

Mrs. Ruggiero was a very dedicated wife and mother. She was employed as a Quality Control Inspector During World War II for Tobe Deutchmann Laboratories in Canton for 5 years and also as a Home Health Aid for the elderly in the Town of Stoughton during the 1980’s. She was a member and attended the Immaculate Conception Church in Stoughton. Her hobbies included line dancing and walking. She also enjoyed trips to Nantasket Beach and the quality time spent with her nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great - grandchildren. Dorothy also enjoyed her special times at the Stoughton Senior Center with her very good friend Danielle.

Dorothy is survived by her children, Linda Gillis of Stoughton, Terry Ruggiero of Napa, California, Dennis Ruggiero and his wife Susan of Easton, Keith Ruggiero of Stoughton, Mark Ruggiero and his wife Kathy of Easton and Jack Ruggiero of Moreno Valley, California. She was also a mother to the late Charlene Fitzwilliam and a sister to the late Patrick F. Walsh Jr., Edward Walsh, Thomas Walsh, John Walsh, Elizabeth Gambrazzio and Marion Pidzewick. Other survivors include her 13 grandchildren, 12 great - grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held on Monday July 20, 2009 from 4 – 8 P.M. in the Sheehan Funeral Home, 115 Monk Street, Stoughton.

Her funeral service will be held on Tuesday July 21, 2009 at 10 A.M. in the Sheehan Funeral Home, 115 Monk Street,Stoughton. Fr. James W. Fahey, officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Stoughton. In lieu of flowers, donations to the New England Sinai Hospital & Rehabilitation Center, C/O the Physical Therapy Department, 150 York Street, Stoughton, MA 02072 in Dorothy’s memory, would be appreciated.
