Obituary

Leonard Gilman of Everett died on July 16, 2009. He was 83 years old. Leonard was the beloved husband of the late Edith Marilyn Gilman (Ganz).

Leonard was born in Boston and attended the Chelsea schools and high school. He was a resident of Everett for more than 50 years of his life. Leonard was retired from the U.S. Postal Service as a letter carrier and in his later years worked at Coldwater Fisheries in Everett as an expeditor. Leonard was a World War Two Army Veteran and was active in the community as a member of Congregation Tifereth Israel of Everett and the brotherhood at the temple as well as a member of the Jewish War Veterans, The Lieutenant Carlstein Post in Everett. He was a member of the American Legion, a life member of Hadassah, and a member of the National Letter Carriers Association. In his later years, he became active in various senior groups including the Happy Time Club and the 280 Club.

Leonard was the devoted father of Judith Mason and her husband Arthur, Janice Freedman and her husband Bruce, and Linda Bandier and her husband Mark. He was the devoted companion of Olga Elibero. Leonard was the dear brother of Charles Gilman and the late Myer Gelman, Harold Gilman, Frances Tuton and Becky Novak. He was the loving grandfather of David, Scott, Jessica, & Ashley.

Services at the Torf Funeral Chapel, 151 Washington Ave., Cary Sq., Chelsea on Sunday, July 19 at 11:00 AM. Interment in Everett. Memorial observance at his late residence on Sunday following interment until 9PM and Monday 2-9 PM.
