Whitman – Virginia M. “Gini” (Duplin) Morrison 84 a long time resident of Whitman passed away at home surrounded by her loving family on Friday July 17. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 62 years Robert C. Morrison.
Born in Boston and raised in Weymouth she was the daughter of the late Harold and Katherine Duplin and a graduate of Weymouth High School Class of 1943.
In her early years she worked at the Hingham Ship Yard and later as a stitcher for Stetson Shoe, ET Wright Shoe where she became the union steward, and Footjoy.
After marrying in 1947 she resided in Rockland until the family moved to Whitman in 1959 where she remained a member of the Whitman community.
She was a member of the Friends of Whitman Seniors for many years.
She is survived by her four devoted children; Patricia Morrison of Whitman, David Morrison and his wife Donna of Rockland, Joyce Blaine and her husband James Jr. of S. Carolina, and Robert Morrison of Whitman, her grandchildren Kelly Elliot and her husband Shane of NH, Scott Morrison of Boston, James Blaine III and his wife Heather of Plymouth, and Jill Burns and husband Peter of Plymouth, her three adored great grandchildren Brooklyn Elliot, Conor Burns, and Hayden Blaine. She is also survived by her precious sister Aurie E. Upham of NH.
Her funeral service will be held Tuesday July 21 at 10 AM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel Plymouth Street (Rt. 58 at the rotary) Whitman. Burial will follow in the St. James Cemetery, Whitman. Visiting hours will be held Monday July 20 from 3-7 PM. Donations in her name may be made to the Whitman Council of Aging 16 Hayden Ave. Whitman, MA 02382.
