Obituary

Salem: Lucille M. (Chouinard) LaPointe, age 88 of Salem, died Sunday, July 12, 2009 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, from complications following a lengthy struggle with Alzheimer’s Disease. She was the wife of the late Henry J. LaPointe whom she married in 1950

Born and raised in Canada, she was the daughter of the late Ulric and Delima (Mercier) Chouinard. Lucille came to Salem in 1948 and first worked for the former Pequot Mills of Salem, and in 1949 was awarded the title of Miss Pequot. She later worked as housekeeper for several Salem families. Later in life Lucille over came another major health issue when she was released from hospice care after her breast cancer suddenly went into remission. Lucille was a quiet woman who was devoted to her husband and family.

She is survived by a son: Andrew J. LaPointe and his wife Cheryl, 4 grandchildren, Jason A., Andrew C., & Kimberly A. LaPointe all of Salem and Aimee L. LaPointe of Connecticut. She is also survived by 2 sisters, Erculle Daigle & Monique Pare both of Ontario, Canada and 2 brothers, Robert and Maurice Chouinard both of Quebec, Canada as well as several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to her memorial mass on Monday, July 20, 2009 in Ste. Anne Church, 290 Jefferson Ave., Salem at 9 a.m. At the request of Lucille and her family there will be no visiting hours.
