Alan M. Horlick, 77, died at his home on July 14, 2009, after a long illness. He was a forty-two year resident of Londonderry, NH. Born in Lynn, MA, on September 21, 1931, he was the son of the late Matthew Horlick and Cassie (Jakusik) Horlick. He attended Lynn Classical High School, where he served as class President. He also played varsity football and was a member of the Drama, Latin and Mathematics Clubs. After high school, he enlisted in the Air Force, working as an Aircraft Equipment Repairman. He served honorably during the Korean War and was awarded the Good Conduct Medal.
Returning home from the service, he married his wife, Ann (McIntire) Horlick. He attended classes at Bentley College and MIT. He spent his career as a Computer Engineer, working on numerous defense and aerospace projects. After retirement, he and his wife enjoyed sailing and wintering at their vacation home in Cape Coral, FL.
He is survived by his loving wife of fifty-three years, Ann D. Horlick; a sister, Phyllis (Horlick) Melnik of Wentworth, NH; a brother Robert Horlick and his wife Lee, of Groveland, MA; four children: Brian Horlick and his wife Diane of Boscawen, NH; Jan Harris of Londonderry; Lisa Callanan and her partner, Grover Courtney; and Philip Horlick, all of Cape Coral, FL; four grand-children; two great-grandchildren; and was the beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Following cremation, a private memorial service will be held at a later date. The Peabody Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to:
