Obituary

METHUEN – Mildred M. (Wirth) Snell 93 died peacefully on Wednesday July 15, 2009 at Caritas Holy Family Hospital.

Born in Lawrence, MA daughter of John and Frieda Wirth March 19, 1916, she was a graduate of Lawrence High School Class of 1934, and Essex Agricultural School in Hawthorne, MA.

She was a resident of Methuen for many years and was a member the First Church Congregational Church. She was associated with her late husband and her late parents in the operation of Wirth’s Café in Lawrence. She waitressed for many years at Carl Wirtshaus in Methuen until her retirement in 1975. She loved cooking and collected more recipes and cookbooks than Pillsbury. Mildred always said “I hope they have cooking classes in Heaven, I know I will join one of them”. Mildred and her husband enjoyed taking trips with friends and was active at the Methuen Senior Center.

Mildred relied on her dear cousin Herbert and Celia Yopp of New Hampshire to help and visit with her. After Mildred was confined she had two lovely caretakers Ginni and Sandy, who she called her two angels. Mildred had faithful relatives and friends including Bob and Marci Snell ,her godchild Elsa and her husband Bob Sedgwich, Edna Marggraf and her husband Peter, several nices and nephews.

ARRANGEMENTS: There are no calling hours, funeral services will be held on Friday at 1:00p.m. at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, Inc., 233 Lawrence Street Methuen, MA 01844. Burial will follow in the Bellevue Cemetery in Lawrence, MA.
