Carlos F. Brito Silva, 47 of Long Beach, CA died July 13, 2009 at Pacific Healthcare after a brief illness.
Born in Sao Vincente, Cape Verde, the son of Maria (Silva) Brito of New Bedford and Armando Fernandes of Pawtucket, he was raised in New Bedford before moving to Long Beach, CA 20 years ago.
Carlos was the proprietor of Dome Security for many years.
He was a member of the Cape Verdean Club of California.
Survivors include his parents; a son, Carlos Silva, Jr. of Long Beach, CA; his step-father, Domingos Nascimento of New Bedford; his companion, Joanne Dominic of Long Beach, CA; 7 brothers, Manuel Nascimento of North Providence, Francisco Nascimento of New York, Joe Nascimento and Kyle Nascimento, both of New Bedford, Gil Fernandes of West Cranston, Virgil Fernandes of North Providence and Armandio Fernandes of Rehoboth; 3 sisters, Emilia Fernandes, Marilia Fernandes and Bella Fernandes, all of Pawtucket; 5 aunts, Yvonne Johnson, Maria Johnson, Fernanda Brito, Eva Brito and Edna Cabral; his good friend, Randy Medina; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was the grandson of the late Francisco and Gertrude Brito.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford Saturday, July 18th at 8 AM. Funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Assumption Church at 9 AM. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Friday, July 17th from 4-8 PM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
