Richard L. Morris, Sr., 73, of Norton formerly of Canton and Allston passed away on Tuesday July 14, 2009 at the Southeast Rehabilitation & Skilled Care Center in Easton. He was the husband of the late Jean R. (Ivanoski) Morris who died on December 28, 2000.
Born in Boston, MA on July 11, 1936 he was a son of the late Cecil A. Morris, Sr. and Catherine (Sullivan) Morris.
He grew up in the Roxbury section of Boston and was educated in Boston public schools. Mr. Morris had been employed for the City of Boston in the Maintenance Department at Boston City Hall for over 20 years before retiring.
A resident of Norton for the past year he had previously resided in Canton and Allston for many years. He was a very generous person who possessed an enthusiasm for cars and loved times spent with his family.
He is survived by his devoted children Richard L. Morris, Jr. and his wife Elinore of Stoughton, Katie M. Morris of Canton, Michael C. Morris and his wife Jean of Canton, Mark A. Morris and his wife Anne of Norton and the late John A. Morris who passed away in 2005. He was the brother of Henry Morris of Canton, Peggy Langis of Dorchester and the late Jackie Morris, Sr. and Cecil Morris, Jr., the cherished grandfather of John, Jessica, Richard, Michael D., Jenna, Melanie, Natalie, Katie, Michael P. and Haylie he is also survived by his great grandson John Adrian, his daughter in law Nadean Yasko of Avon, his sister in law Dorothy Morris of Canton as well as many nieces and nephews.
His funeral mass, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be celebrated on Saturday July 18th at 9:30 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church 133 South Worcester St. Norton. Private burial will be at a later date in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, West Roxbury.
