TEWKSBURY: Sadie F. "Sally" (Hurley) Stokes, age 92, a Tewksbury resident for over 50 years, passed away on Tuesday, July 14, 2009 at Saints Medical Center in Lowell.
She was the beloved wife of Clayton H. Stokes, who passed away on October 14, 1992.
Born in Boston on January 21, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Edward J. and Annie (Nolan) Hurley.
Mrs. Stokes was raised in Somerville, attended Somerville schools and graduated from Somerville High School.
In 1955, Sadie moved to Tewksbury, where she was a communicant of St. William's Parish.
Mrs. Stokes dedicated her life to her late husband, family and siblings and could always be counted on to lend a helping hand to those in need.
She enjoyed numerous craft projects including knitting and crotchet. In addition, she loved completing a good puzzle.
Mrs. Stokes is survived by one son, Edward C. Stokes of Tewksbury; two grandchildren, Danielle M. Stokes of Winthrop and Michael J. Sax of Tewksbury; also many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
She was pre-deceased by two sisters, Marie and Alice and six brothers, John, Bill, Jim, Vinnie, Ed and Herb.
At her request funeral services were held privately. Interment was at St. Mary Cemetery, Tewksbury.
